Position Summary:
The Electronic/BMS/ELV (Building Management System/Extra Low Voltage) Technician in a hospital setting is responsible for the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electronic systems, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and Extra Low Voltage (ELV) systems. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the seamless operation of various hospital systems related to security, communication, and building automation.
Key Responsibilities:
Building Management System (BMS) Operations:
Install, configure, and maintain BMS components to monitor and control HVAC, lighting, and other building systems.
Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to integrate BMS with other hospital systems.
ELV Systems Maintenance:
Maintain and troubleshoot ELV systems, including security systems, access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and communication systems.
Ensure ELV systems are operating efficiently and meet safety and security requirements.
Installation and Upgrades:
Assist in the installation, replacement, and upgrade of electronic and ELV components as directed by senior technicians or engineers.
Ensure installations comply with relevant codes, regulations, and hospital standards.
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for BMS and ELV systems.
Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.
Energy Management:
Implement energy-efficient practices within BMS to optimize the use of electrical resources.
Propose and assist in the implementation of energy-saving initiatives in ELV systems.
Emergency Response:
Respond promptly to electronic and ELV emergencies, system failures, and alarms.
Work closely with the emergency response team to restore electronic services affecting patient care and critical operations.
Safety compliance:
Adhere to safety regulations and hospital policies related to electronic and ELV systems.
Participate in safety training programs and contribute to the development of safety protocols.
Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of electronic and ELV maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections.
Generate reports on the performance and reliability of electronic systems for supervisory review.
Training and Collaboration:
Provide training to end-users and other technicians on the use and maintenance of electronic systems.
Collaborate with other departments, including IT, security, and facilities management, to address cross-functional issues.
Continuous Learning:
Stay updated on advancements in BMS and ELV technologies, industry best practices, and relevant codes and standards.
Attend training sessions and conferences to enhance knowledge and skills.
Qualifications and Requirements :
ITI or Diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
Proven experience as an Electronic/BMS/ELV Technician, preferably in a healthcare or institutional setting.
Familiarity with Building Management Systems, access control, CCTV, fire alarm, and communication systems.
Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Availability for on-call duty and response to emergencies.
