Job Summary:
The Kitchen Equipment Technician in the hospital's Facilities Management department is responsible for ensuring the proper functioning, maintenance, and repair of all kitchen equipment within the healthcare facility. This role is crucial in supporting the hospital's food service operations and ensuring a safe and efficient kitchen environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Maintenance and Repair:
Conduct regular inspections of kitchen equipment, including ovens, stoves, refrigerators, dishwashers, and other appliances.
Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions in kitchen equipment and perform necessary repairs or coordinate with external service providers.
Preventive Maintenance:
Develop and implement a preventive maintenance schedule for all kitchen equipment to minimize downtime and extend the lifespan of appliances.
Perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and adjusting equipment components.
Installation and Upgrades:
Install new kitchen equipment as needed, ensuring proper connections and compliance with safety standards.
Stay informed about the latest technologies and recommend upgrades to improve efficiency and energy conservation.
Record-keeping:
Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including service reports, work orders, and equipment manuals.
Document the condition of kitchen equipment during inspections and provide reports to the Facilities Manager.
Safety compliance:
Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines when working on kitchen equipment.
Ensure that all kitchen appliances and systems meet health and safety standards and regulations.
Inventory Management:
Keep an organized inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for kitchen equipment maintenance and repairs.
Monitor and reorder supplies as needed, notifying the Facilities Manager of any shortages.
Collaboration:
Collaborate with the hospital's food service and dietary departments to address equipment-related needs and concerns.
Coordinate with external vendors and suppliers for the procurement of kitchen equipment and replacement parts.
Training and Support:
Provide training to kitchen staff on the proper use and care of equipment.
Offer technical support and guidance to kitchen staff during equipment-related issues.
Qualifications:
ITI in Electrical/ Electronic with technical certification in kitchen equipment repair or a related field.
Proven experience as a kitchen equipment technician, preferably in a healthcare or hospitality setting.
Strong knowledge of various kitchen equipment and their repair methods.
Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
