Private Duty Nurse Qualifications & Skills

Previous experience in home healthcare or private duty nursing

Advanced certification in specialized areas of nursing such as gerontology, pediatrics, or critical care

Bilingual abilities to communicate with diverse patient populations

Strong organizational and time- management skills

Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems

Capability to handle high- stress situations calmly and effectively

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) or an associate degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited school

Current CPR and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Proven clinical experience, preferably with a focus on home healthcare

Strong understanding of medical procedures and terminology

Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Good physical stamina and the capability to perform physically demanding tasks
